Na pobudo lanske predsenice smo članice LK Maribor Zarja donirale sredstva za nakup higienskih pripomočkov za šolajoča dekleta v Ugandi.

Sourcing for sanitary pads.

Uganda Red Cross and Jie Community Development Initiative received approximately 900 euros from Slovenia Lions Club president her Execellency (DUSANK MICETIC-TURK) as a fulfillment to her pledge she had made during a visit to the area.
Consultations were made with the community and health office on the type and the source of the suitable sanitary pads where it was agreed to source for the sustainable and long lasting sanitary pads compared to the disposable sanitary pads that are quite expensive and short term.
A survey was carried out within the country and a company certified by the ministry of health to manufacture and supply re-usable sanitary pads called DAYS FOR GIRLS (DfG) was identified www.daysforgirls.org.

Procurement and distribution of the sanitary Kits/ Pads

A total of 100 kits were procured and distributed to the Primary seven pupils of the five schools in Rengen sub county in Kotido district (Rengen, Maaru, Nakoreto, Nakwakwa and Lopuyo primary schools) .Each super kit is composed of a clothe bag, polythene bag, 2 shields, and 8 Liners.
